Winner of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for a Documentary, RESTREPO chronicles the deployment of a U.S. platoon of courageous American soldiers in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley, considered to be one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military. From May 2007 to July 2008, Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger dug in with the men of the Second Platoon, Battle Company of the 503rd Infantry Regiment (airborne), stationed at Restrepo, sharing duties and shooting more than 150 hours of combat, frustration, routine, jokes, terror and bravery during daily life at the outpost.

RIP: Dennis Hopper dead at 74

(Reuters) – Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic “Easy Rider,” died on Saturday from complications of prostate cancer, a friend of the actor said. Hopper was 74.

Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen designed ‘totem’ a new cabinet for dutch furniture manufacturer pastoe. The cabinet was presented during Milan Design Week 2010.
Features of the cabinet include shelves which can be turned independently of each other and are divided into segments by broad bands.

Controversial Print Ad: “Change your style, don’t follow your leader!”

The 18ft high posters of Hitler advertise a line of clothing for young people and adorn street corners and bus stops in Palermo, Sicily’s biggest city.

The ads show the Fuhrer in a lurid pink uniform, with his swastika armband replaced with one bearing a bright red heart, above the slogan “Change Style – Don’t Follow Your Leader”.

Many local people say the advertising campaign is offensive and have called for the posters to be taken down. A city councillor with the centre-Left Democratic Party, Rosario Filoramo, has protested to the mayor of Palermo.

WOW: 3D Projection Mapping In Amsterdam

If you thought that last few projection mapping examples I posted (1, 2, 3) were amazing, then check this out.

Perfectly mapped to a historic building in Amsterdam, the projection realistically cracks the building in half, sending debris shattering down before it fills up with water and then drains into a rain forest revealing the new Samsung 3D LED TV! While Ive seen other attempted 3D perspectives, this certainly has to be the best 3D experience Ive seen from Projection mapping!
